In Entertainment News, Madonna was granted permission to adopt a four year old Mercy James. A girl from Malawi after she faced the initial denial from the Malawian court earlier this April. Madonna had filed her request for reconsideration for the adoption process with the Milawian Supreme Court. She was denied because she was not a resident of Malawian.
According to Extra Entertainment News Lovemore Munlo, who is the Chief Justice of the county, said that a lowe court had made a mistake in declining Madonna on her previous attempt, and said that Madonna is compassionate enough to make the decision to adopt Mercy.
Lucy Chekechiwa who is the maternal grandmother of Chifundo “Mercy” James said that the family never agreed to put the four year old up for adoption on a permanent basis. She had fought to keep Mercy, but the southern African country’s highest court ruled that Madonna could adopt Mercy. Everyone else including Mercy James’ father James Kabewa is very upset with this decision. He left his job in order to stop this adoption. He has protested this adoption all along. He wants his child back, and does not know what to do. He does not want Madonna to take his child away. The Social rights groups and non-governmental organizations are also very furious being that no one can challenge the verdict of the Supreme Court.
Madonna came across Mercy back in 2006 with her then husband Guy Ritchie, and she knew then that she wanted to adopt this child. She knew Mercy was the one.
